Gather & Make Natural Cordage POSTPONED!!
October 10, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am
This event is being postponed due to a lack of ready materials for cordage.
This will be rescheduled in a few months. See new event for same date below.
Led by weaver and future Rocky Corner resident, Marie Pulito.
******************************************************************************************
Natural cordage is string or rope that can be made from plant materials. There are various native plants at Rocky Corner that can be used for cordage: milkweed, dogbane, cattails. We may also experiment with some invasives: bittersweet, mugwort.
We will learn to identify and conserve the plants. Marie will demonstrate how to strip threads from the stalks and how to twist it into cordage. While we work together, we will discuss our culture where even the materials we use for making things are usually bought. And how are those materials produced? Safely? Sustainably?
Hopefully we will all end up with a finished bracelet to wear home!
Rain Date: Sunday, October 11, 9:30am-11:30pm
